I think Kretinsky's gf is even richer. Well her old man is the richest man in Czech.

We just won a cup.

Sum,

There is no point keeping a player who has made it quite clear he wants to go on to win cups, leagues and champions league. Something that we are not achieving at the moment. So we take the money now or end up losing our best player(s) on a free. Which would piss you off more? Conning Arsenal for £100m notes now or seeing him/them in a Arse or Totts shirts knowing it cost them nothing but wages.

haha

I'd like to think the extra money we got Arsenal to pay equals the amount of money they skanked us out of with Freddy, Wilshire etc..

That would be justice lol

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
I would say the rent we pay mitigates against the lack of some income. Our biggest failures have come from not creating value from players except Rice. More of that should see us increase value but we would only be as good as the market place for players. Competing against the arabs and yanks will always be hard.

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
It's the harsh reality of being West Ham I feel. That said I don't think there's been too many instances in our recent history where we've had to sell our best player(s). You look at the likes of Bowen when he had that big season the season before last, we had clubs sniffing around but resisted. Rice is a bit of an exception in the fact he's world class and chose Arsenal specifically as he bought into Arteta's plan

Glenn Roeder 12:52 Fri Jul 21
Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
I think the fact we do not own the stadium is a negative factor on our income. No chance of naming rights, commercial activities and food and beverage sales do not go into the coffers of the club.

Not sure on how much is made from that lot but it would all help.

Isn't Sullivan asset rich rather than cash rich?

El Scorchio 12:51 Fri Jul 21
Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
Nah, it's not true. Stan Kroenke is apparently worth about 12 billion, while Sullivan is worth about 1.5. Kretinsky apparently worth between 7-10 but as he's got no decision making power at the moment, I suppose it doesn't count for much.

Of course their revenue streams are massive compared to us too- sponsorship, shirt deals. matchday etc. That's where the real difference is made.

I’m sure someone posted on here our owners are richer than Arsenal’s…do not know if that is true though….even more of a scandal if it is….

Our owner is too poor- in multiple aspects of the word.

With a 62,000 sell out crowds amnd a massive loyal fan base we have all the amunmition to break into the top 6. The problem is our owners are too poor.

Swindon Hammer,

Please, don’t compare the Arsenal supporters you know, to the ones I’ve met, seen or know.

Yes, I probably am a bit obsessive about Arsenal. But, without obsession , rivalry and irrational behaviour - football wouldn’t create half the excitement it does.

You carry on enjoying West Ham’s finances on a spreadsheet.

Give me, rivalry, obsession and the odd bit of irrational behaviour any day of the week.

Exactly but you forgot Lampard, Defoe and Carrick.

Arsenal before Rice was like pre- war I think

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
This thread has made me think of the anger vented by the Lyon owner last year when we signed Paqueta from them.

A few clubs, well the Sky 6, have been able to position themselves as global brands with the type of income and image associated with that. Arsenal are one of these.

We operate in the worlds biggest money league and are probably the most successful "national brand". Our standings in every ranking are impressive and probably all time highs for the club. (UEFA ranking, income ranking, etc)

We do seem well set up for a takeover from an organisation/individual who could take us to a global level where we could turn down world transfer record bids.

But, perhaps our success and subsequent price tag means that there is more perceived value further down the pecking order.

Next five years will be interesting.

Re: Selling our best players to Arseanal.
SUM,

I have worked with plenty of Arsenal fans.

This is just an obsession/hatred you have for Arsenal and their fans.

As I said before, worrying about us producing good players in the future and specifically Arsenal buying them is weird.

If we do produce these players in the future and they want to leave then there will be multiple clubs coming in for them. No one is going to worry about about one of them being Arsenal apart from you.

Whether it’s Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Man Utd. It’s all the same and we try and get the best deal for the club.

Mate, you’re clearly an intelligent and dedicated supporter of West Ham United.

But don’t tell me how I should think or feel about certain supporters of certain teams when you’ve not walked in my shoes.

Please, people, don’t tell me what I want to hear , (that it’s unlikely that Arsenal will not and/or want to sign anymore of our players).

Tell me how you’d feel (hopefully not) if Arsenal were to start picking off our best players?

“The danger that comes with that is there is a chance we will sign/produce players that Arsenal will be interested in the future”

SUM,

This is starting to become weird.

If we start producing great players then there will eventually be loads of clubs interested in buying them. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City etc etc.

Your obsession with making sure it’s not Arsenal that we sell them to is weird.

First priority is to try and keep them. If that’s not possible like with Declan Rice then we try and get the best deal possible for the club regardless of who we sell the player to. If that’s Arsenal then so be it.

Robson,

Your point about Arsenal not wanting to spend that amount of money again, on one of our players is valid enough.

Let’s hope Rice fucks up there and we can put my fears to bed.

I won’t hold my breath on that one, though.

“For me, I feel like we have set a dangerous precedent, because unlike when we sold off the family jewels to Chelsea & Tottenham ( which was fucking terrible) it was made very, very clear, that the fan base was far from happy and that this shouldn’t be a regular occurrence.

The danger we have with selling to Arsenal, in my opinion, is that we as a fan base, we won’t make too much of a fuss, thus potentially, leading to our board thinking that it’s ok for us to be selling more of our best players to them in the future.“

For me, Scott_d, this answers your question. That’s from my opening post.

We are a club hopefully, very much on the up. The danger that comes with that is that there is a chance that we will sign/produce players that Arsenal will be interested in the future.
